At Emerald, maintaining our Corporate Social Responsibility is a process to which we are fully committed. Corporate Social Responsibility at Emerald means respecting people and our society.

In recognition of the growing importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in enhancing our corporate reputation and the community in which we operate, we contribute to a better society by actively engaging with and consulting stakeholders, including customers, employees, and the local community, in a manner that goes beyond our financial and legal obligations. Through CSR, we are working voluntarily to integrate social and environmental concerns into our everyday business operations.

We launched our CSR policy in 2005 continuing our proactive and caring tradition of assisting those in need.

Supporting social need in Ireland

Our staff voted to select two areas of social need from the many worthy causes in Irish society. They chose:

  • Focus Ireland

  • St. Francis Hospice

These areas were selected as our causes for the next 3 years and we hope to make a focused impact on these two areas.

Emerald in the Community

Every year Emerald allocates funding for projects or sponsorship in the community. We aim to add value and benefit to all the local communities in which we operate. We achieve this through both corporate giving programmes and community sponsorship where individuals, groups or organisations can benefit from various types of support from us.

We are focused on playing a role in both the economic and social development of the communities in which we operate. Our sponsorship programmes reflect this and in Ireland our sponsorships focuses on ‘grassroots’ sports sponsorship especially through our sponsorship of local football clubs such as Kilnamanagh United and Malahide United

At Emerald we work hard to strengthen our communities, transform education and protect the environment through a number of dedicated programs and initiatives. We also focus on making a positive impact on society through our sponsorship of aspiring athletes like 28 year old Sean Connolly from Tallaght Athletic Club.

Coached by Dick Hooper (3 times Olympian) Sean won the Dublin City Marathon in October 2011. In 2012 Sean aims to run inside the World Championship "A" standard time and earn a place at the 2013 World Championship in Moscow. We are delighted to be proud sponsors of this dedicated and committed young athlete.

In preparation for his World Championship bid Sean typically runs 115-120 miles per week during marathon specific training blocks. He trains twice a day most days apart from Sunday, which usually involves doing one run of 22-28 miles at a steady pace. Sean does 2-3 key "race pace" training runs every week. These key sessions are done over different terrains, i.e. track and hills and he has also been busy with light gym work such as core and strength training to help keep the injuries at bay.
