Health & Safety Policy


Emerald Facility Services (FS) considers safety as vitally important. The health and safety of our employees and everyone else affected by our activities is fundamental to the success of our business. It is company policy to comply with the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and the Safety, health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and to ensure as reasonably practicable the safety, health and welfare of all employees.

Our policy is to create an environment in which everyone can work safely. Emerald FS whilst actively promoting a strong, safety, health and welfare policy throughout the company, we provide safe and healthy working conditions for all employees and will take positive action to ensure that others who may be affected by our activities are also protected e.g. contractors, clients and the public. The implementation of our health and safety management policy is supported by our Health and Safety Manager and relies upon the competence and commitment of all our employees. We will;

  • Actively involve our employees in developing and sustaining a positive health and safety culture which demonstrates strong leadership.

  • Provide adequate financial support for the full implementation of the policy.

  • Ensure that all employees are competent to carry out the duties asked of them and to provide detailed instructions, supervision and the necessary training required to complete their tasks safely and efficiently.

  • Promote a working environment where all employees look out for their own and their colleague’s safety and stop and seek guidance if they are involved in an activity which they believe to be unsafe.

  • Establish organisational communication, cooperation and control arrangements with documented procedures and guidance where appropriate.

  • Consult all employees on matters of safety, health and welfare and to encourage positive employee participation.

  • Seek all employees’ involvement in a proactive approach to accident prevention in order to achieve continual improvement in health, safety and welfare performance.

  • Emerald operates a health and management system in accordance with the requirements of OHSAS 18001.

  • The Companies Health & Safety Policy statement is reviewed annually and updated to any changing circumstances and to ensure their operational effectiveness.

  • The statement is distributed to all Senior Management team, Area Managers and Supervisors and is available at locations where Emerald FS delivers our cleaning service.

  • Adopting best practices.

  • Ensuring through consistent monitoring of our training programme that each employee receives sufficient training and assessment to complete their job safely and efficiently.

  • Identifying ant risks involved in our activities and taking the necessary steps to manage these risks.

  • Communicating with our employees to ensure they understand how to keep themselves safe while working.
